This one was all about making a yard actually work for the people - and the dog - living there. The homeowner wanted something cleaner, easier to maintain, and with a dedicated space for their pup that wouldn't wreck the rest of the yard. Pretty common situation, and one we're happy to solve.
We installed fresh rock beds along the foundation with paver edging to keep everything in its place. That edging detail matters more than people realize. Without it, rock creeps into the lawn, mulch migrates, and the whole thing starts to look sloppy within a season. The paver border holds the line and keeps the beds looking intentional year after year.
The dog run was built along the side of the property - tucked between the house and the existing fence. We laid gravel inside the run so it drains well and stays manageable no matter what the dog tracks through it. It keeps the main lawn area cleaner and gives the dog a defined space that's actually theirs.
That's what good landscape design is really about. Not just how a yard looks on day one, but how it holds up and how much work it requires from you going forward. Less mowing around rock beds, no muddy paw prints across a freshly seeded lawn, and clean lines that don't need constant babysitting.
Every yard has its own set of constraints - lot size, existing structures, pets, maintenance preferences. We work through all of it before we start so the end result makes sense for how you actually live.
